An introduction to this blog, from one American to all Americans.

My fellow Americans.  I learned in my 7th grade typing class the phrase:  “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.”  It was a speed test to see how fast we were learning good typing and speed skills.  It is an apt time for such a line to be written for all the Internet to see and read.  It was a good skill to learn, but it appears, most of us have forgotton this phrase.  No, I’m not talking about forgotton how to type, I’m saying that we, as American’s, have forgotton what it means for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

I believe we are entering into a new struggle for freedom that every man, woman, and child will come to learn as defining moment in American history.  The question for Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday anniversary we recently celebrated, was how to keep the Union together, in the midst of a bitter struggle against the tradition slavery had become.  Slavery was deeply knitted into the fiber of the nation.  But President Lincoln knew, in the deepest part of his soul, that all men should be free.  He believed in Natural Law, rights given to all people, inlcuding freedom, bestowed upon by God.  Our Founding Father’s understood Natural Law, and knitted these principals into the very fabric of the Nation, first through the Declaration of Independence, and later, with the drafting and the implementation, of the U.S. Constitution.

But the events that are occurring today tell a very clear picture about just how far we have come as a country from those first principles which established this great nation of ours, and it tells us where we are heading.  It does not look good.

There is certainly lot’s of talk going on, we hear it every day.  We hear from the conservative commentators, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Laura Ingram, and others (sorry if I missed your personal favorite).  But we have to remember, while they are reaching millions with their format, all we are doing is listening.  We listen, we call in, we agree, but nothing changes.  I hope that by starting this blog, it may reach others, like myself, who are called into service to help right this ship, and move us on the course that will take us back to the original premise of the founding of this country.  This is a call, this is a ‘community organizer’ action blog.  While the conservative talk shows are only one voice, We, the people, are millions, and can do so much more.  This is my country, this is your country.  Let’s find the strength, and the drive, to take our country back.

Now IS the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country.
